Pulmonary function tests are a group of tests that measure how well your lungs work.
In a sitting position the health care provider will give you a mouthpiece which is connected to a spirometer, you will be asked to inhale & exhale several times.
The spirometer records the amount of air you breath in & out over a period of time which will be printed as graph on paper.
The test is performed to diagnose certain types of lung disease, to assess the effectiveness of the medication, to check the lungs before the surgery, to measure whether exposure to chemicals at work affects the lung function.
